The long story of a special tie.

Good evening. I’m Matsushima from cantáte.

Today, I would like to talk about the Atto Vannucci I love dearly.

I have also written a previous blog post,

if you like, please read that one as well.

A tie is

and it is a very small presence within an outfit.

Nor does it cover as much area as a jacket,

It does not become the star in the way a coat does.

But it is also a place that somehow catches the eye.

The neck area.

it is at the center of an outfit.

Just by tying a tie,

it can either pull an outfit together or throw it off.

It is small, but

it is an unexpectedly influential item.

When choosing a tie,

Many people probably look first at the color and pattern.

Of course, that is important too.

However, a tie also has

There is another important aspect.

That is the “construction”.

The rounded edge is hand-hemmed while being worked by hand. Because it is not ironed, it has a soft texture.

hand-sewn bar tacks, commonly known as gli occhi, and a slack thread

In the world of ties,

sette piegheorquattro piegheor

as the saying goes.

A sette pieghe uses no interlining,

it is made by folding the fabric over itself.

Light and soft,

It is a construction well known among tie enthusiasts.

you can see the interlining peeking out.

On the other hand,quattro piegheis

with an interlining added to stabilize the structure.

It is made so that its shape is easier to keep neat when tied,

also makes it easier to achieve a balanced knot.

The tie we are introducing today as well,

In fact, it was not made this way from the beginning.

I heard this story from Mr. Kaga of Atto Vannucci.

“Initially, we planned to propose a sette pieghe. However, considering the balance between the shirt’s tie space and the knot when the tie is tightened, we settled on a quattro pieghe with an interlining.”

When you tie the tie,

creates a knot.

that the size and three-dimensionality of the knot, and how neatly it sits at the neck

Considering that aspect,

For this fabric and design,

This structure comes together more neatly.

Apparently, that was the decision they made.

In addition, this tie has

There is another interesting detail.

“Ties are normally cut into three pieces, but this tie has a two-piece construction because the narrow end is finished in a solid fabric. It is designed to make the solid section appear as though it has no stitching.”

a combination of regimental stripes and solid fabric.

When you look at the back of the tie,

you can certainly recognize the craftsmanship.

unless someone points them out,

you might not notice.

Yet these subtle differences in construction

it creates the character of the tie.

Although it is ready-to-wear,

somewhat an atmosphere reminiscent of a bespoke tiewhat gives the impression of

perhaps it is because of this kind of consideration.

And as I looked at this tie,

Another thing I found interesting was

the culture behind it.

<Atto Vannucci>

“MOD 4 SF-Double Face Regimental”

This stripe

so-called regimental ties

Originally,

it originated from stripes representing British regiments and clubs.

In other words, British tie cultureis.

However, the maker of this tie is

Italy

Even details like these labels being woven labels are a charming touch.

Italian ties

It is characterized by soft tailoring with a touch of sensuality.

And what makes the fabric even more interesting is

The material is 100% silk

Yet it has a crisp texture somewhat reminiscent of linen.

Because the fabric was specially made in homage to Japanese kimono fabric.

“The material is silk. It was woven in homage to Japanese kimono fabric, creating a distinctive, nostalgic atmosphere.”

The surface has a slight unevenness,

It has a somewhat nostalgic character.

British regimental stripes.

Italian tailoring.

a fabric inspired by Japanese kimono textiles.

when you think about it this way,

Within a single tie,

various cultures overlap within it.

a tie is a very small item, but

Once you know this background,

It feels as though it changes the way it is seen, just slightly.

there is just a small piece of fabric at the neck.

Yet within it,

it holds a surprisingly long history and culture.

A tie is small, but

More interesting than you might expect.

This is a tie whose difference you notice once you wear it.
