Pair your everyday clothes in a different way.

It felt too warm to wear fall and winter clothes until recently, but it's suddenly gotten cold over the past few days.

At the shop, too, many more customers have been looking for warm pieces like knitwear and blousons. Until recently, even when someone found something they liked, we'd often hear, “I'd like to wear it when it gets a little colder.” Now, customers are choosing them as pieces they can wear right away.

As expected, once it actually gets cold, it's easier to picture how to dress.

Hello. I'm Tomioka from cliché.

Personally, I'm glad it's finally the season for enjoying layers, and I've been spending a little longer each morning thinking about what to wear.

When getting dressed, it's nice to wear your favorite pieces the way you usually do, but I also think it's fun to try a different combination from time to time.

You could wear sweatpants instead of your usual jeans, or pair a casual piece with something a little more refined.Even when each individual piece stays the same, changing what you wear it with can make familiar clothes feel fresh.

Especially as the colder season approaches, the more items we wear, such as outerwear and knitwear, the more enjoyable it is to think about how to put them together. You might pay attention to differences in texture or coordinate the color tones. Even the smallest difference can change the overall impression.

This time, I put together six looks centered on three pieces that customers have been reaching for often this season: WWⅡ T-Back Jacket, Essential Sweat Wide Pants, and Proper Tailored Trousers.

Some combinations are ones I'd naturally reach for, while others involve trying a slightly different way of dressing. Each piece has its own character, but I don't think there's only one right way to wear it.

I'd be happy if you'd think about your own wardrobe and ask yourself, “How would I put this together?”

First, here's a set-up pairing a sweat parka with sweatpants. I kept both pieces in FADED BLACK.

They have a slightly faded color that sets them apart from true black, and their character will continue to change with repeated wear and washing. They have a slightly worn-in feel from the start, but I think you can also enjoy the process of making them part of your everyday life.

A sweat set-up can sometimes give the impression of loungewear. But by paying attention to the silhouette and keeping the colors cohesive, I think you can create a relaxed look that doesn't appear sloppy.

The Essential Sweat Wide Pants have a relaxed silhouette, which I think makes it easy to balance them with a top. Even though both pieces are sweatwear, I like how their moderate volume keeps the outfit from looking like I'm simply wearing something comfortable.

I pair it with a simple T-shirt underneath and keep things uncomplicated. When it gets a little colder, I think it would also be nice to layer a coat or blouson over this.

Easy to wear without overthinking, yet still feels like you've put thought into your outfit. That's what I love about the balance of this combination.

Next, I paired the same sweatpants with the Linen Washi Shirt Blouson. The pants are the same as before, but simply changing the outer layer makes the whole look feel quite different.

This time, I built the outfit around black, paying attention to the differences in materials. The soft texture of the sweat fabric contrasts with the distinctive structure and character of the linen-washi shirt blouson. What I find interesting is that even with a limited color palette, the different materials keep the look from feeling monotonous while bringing it all together.

Personally, I think differences in materials are especially important when styling an outfit around black. Even the same black can look different depending on how the light hits it and the character of the fabric, so layering different materials adds depth.

The look of this shirt blouson also changes depending on which buttons you fasten and how many. You can button it all the way up for a clean look, or leave it slightly open to show the layer underneath. For example, pairing it with a turtleneck in a similar color would make the outfit feel a little more refined, even with sweatpants.

At this time of year, you could just throw on a shirt blouson during the day, then layer on another outerwear piece in the mornings and evenings. That seems like a good way to wear it.

Sweatpants don’t mean you have to choose a casual top. I’d like to try working unexpected combinations like this into my everyday outfits, too.

Here, a light gray knit is paired with pale gray sweatpants. In contrast to the black-based combinations from earlier, the whole outfit is put together in bright tones.

With the sudden drop in temperature, more customers have been reaching for knitwear at the shop. At last, it’s the season for wearing warm, cozy fabrics like these.

Rather than creating strong color contrast, layering similar shades gives the outfit a soft, light feel.

The Quiet Season Hand-Knit Zip Jacket has such rich texture that it makes a statement without needing lots of color. In fact, I think the knit’s texture stands out more when you keep the colors, including the inner layer, to a minimum.

Knitwear and sweatpants both have a soft feel, but their textures differ: one is knitted, the other brushed on the inside. That contrast lets you pair similar colors without the overall look feeling vague or washed out.

Even with the same sweatpants, choosing black or a pale gray makes a difference. And then there’s what you pair them with on top. Just those choices can give you a very different look.

In winter, I tend to reach for dark colors, but it’s nice to put together an outfit in brighter tones like these. Personally, this is a combination I’d like to wear more often from now on.

A denim jacket with sweatpants. Of all the combinations here, this is one I personally find especially easy to wear.

When it comes to pants to wear with a denim jacket, many people probably think of denim or chinos. I like those classic combinations too, of course, but this time I deliberately chose sweatpants.

The soft feel of the sweatpants tempers the rugged, masculine character of the WWⅡ T-Back Jacket. The denim jacket already has plenty of presence, so the outfit feels naturally balanced without needing the other pieces to stand out.

A denim jacket is something you can enjoy over time: as you wear it, the fabric softens and its color and creases change. That’s exactly why I want to wear it regularly without overthinking it.

Pairing it with sweatpants softens the denim jacket’s slightly rugged look and gives it a more everyday feel. You can create a different look depending on whether you finish it with leather shoes or sneakers.

When it gets a little colder, I think it would be nice to layer a coat over the denim jacket.Being able to wear a denim jacket not just as outerwear but as part of a layered outfit is one of the joys of fall and winter.

A familiar denim jacket can feel fresh all over again just by changing the pants you pair with it. This is the kind of combination I can see myself reaching for again and again.

Furry Pile Zip Blouson × Proper Tailored Trousers

From here, I’ve changed the pants and styled the look with Proper Tailored Trousers. First, I paired the fuzzy Furry Pile Zip Blouson with black trousers.

When the weather suddenly turns cold, as it has recently, I find myself drawn to warm-looking blousons like this one. Many customers are looking for pieces that look warm at a glance, and it really makes me feel that the season has changed.

The blouson’s material has a strong presence of its own, so I’ve chosen pants with a clean, streamlined look. Pairing it with wide-leg denim or sweatpants would create a more casual outfit.

That works well too, butthis time, I deliberately paired it with slacks to create a slightly more refined look. The soft, fuzzy fabric and the trousers’ clean drape have such different textures that each one brings out the best in the other.

Personally, I think it’s especially important to balance your pants when wearing voluminous outerwear. With the upper half making a strong statement, keeping the lower half streamlined helps prevent the whole look from feeling too heavy.

Just because a blouson is casual doesn’t mean the whole outfit has to be. In fact, adding a slightly refined element somewhere can make it feel more grown-up.

Warmth is of course important, but I’d also like to choose winter clothes with an eye to how I’ll wear them.

Lastly, here’s one of the more unusual combinations in this feature. I layered the WWⅡ T-Back Jacket under the Furry Cashmere Cardigan.

The cardigan has a soft, fuzzy look, while the waxed denim jacket has a distinctive stiffness and ruggedness. Viewed on their own, they might not seem like pieces that go together. But when I actually layered them, I found that contrast all the more interesting.

The denim’s crisp, rugged character peeks out from the cardigan’s softness. The contrast between the materials keeps each piece distinctive, even when layered together.

Normally, you’d often wear a coat or blouson over a denim jacket. But throwing a cardigan over it like this gives the familiar denim jacket a different look.

In fall and winter, when we wear more layers, it’s fun to change the order you layer them in.Rather than always layering from thin to thick, try mixing things freely while considering the fit and silhouette.

I paired them with Proper Tailored Trousers to give the overall look definition. There’s volume in the upper half, but keeping the pants neat prevents the outfit from looking too heavy.

Personally, I like mixing clothes with different styles like this. Taking things you’d usually wear separately and deliberately wearing them together. They might feel a little unusual at first, but once you try them on, they can come together surprisingly well.

I think this is another part of what makes combining clothes so interesting.

This time, I put together six outfits centered around three items.

The sudden drop in temperature has finally made it possible to really enjoy fall and winter clothes. More customers are coming into the shop and choosing clothes while imagining how they’ll wear them, and I’ve been enjoying talking about styling with everyone, too.

Of course, buying new clothes is one of life’s pleasures, butI’m sure there are combinations you haven’t tried yet among the clothes you already own.

Try switching out the pants you always wear, or pairing pieces you don’t usually layer. Just paying a little attention to the balance of colors and materials can broaden the ways you wear your clothes.

While putting together these outfits, I also found some freshness in combinations I wouldn’t normally choose. Even if I think something might not quite work in my head, it can turn out surprisingly well when I actually try it on. I think that’s what makes getting dressed so interesting.

As it gets colder, there will be more opportunities to wear knits and outerwear.Since this is the season for layering all kinds of clothes, I’d be happy if you enjoyed trying different ways of wearing them without sticking to your usual combinations.

At the shop, we’d love to hear what you usually wear. I think it would also be fun to come up with new combinations together.
