— Reconstructed 1950s-style Denim —
This denim fabric has been reconstructed from cantáte’s unique perspective, based on the 1950s LEVI’S 501XX.
While capturing the atmosphere of the era, the tension and number of warp threads have been carefully adjusted.
It retains the distinctive presence of denim while offering a dry, lightweight feel against the skin.
The design is based on the S506XXE, commonly known as the “WWII model.”
The “T-back” construction, which at the time was found only on larger sizes, has been deliberately adopted,
while distinctive original details such as the center back seam and cinch back have been carefully reconstructed.
The slight remnants of wandering stitching on the collar and the asymmetrical box stitching are also defining features of this jacket.
At first glance, they may appear accidental, but every detail is intentional.
Rather than mass-produced uniformity, the “variation” and “incongruity” inherent to vintage garments have been incorporated into the design.
This version is one-washed.
The fabric’s stiffness has been gently relaxed, making it easy to wear and comfortable from the start,
while maintaining a balance that allows you to fully enjoy its future evolution with wear.
Rather than simply tracing the atmosphere of vintage garments,
the aim is to make it work as a contemporary piece of clothing.
This denim jacket quietly gives form to cantáte’s interpretation of what makes a garment distinctly cantáte.
