— Washed Waxed Denim —
A bleached denim fabric finished with a wax coating that gives it a leather-like appearance.
Water-repellent and wind-resistant, it offers practical performance that is less affected by weather and surroundings. At the same time, repeated wear leaves creases and areas of wear, gradually changing its character.
Rather than aiming to maintain a uniform appearance, it is designed so that the wearer’s movements and the passage of time remain as visible traces.
A textile conceived with both functionality and aging in mind.
The denim has been broken down once.
Indigo denim is bleached, stripping away its color and memory, then layered with a black coating.
What appears first is black.
But as it is worn, the black gradually wears away, and the indigo beneath slowly returns.
It looks like leather, but it is not leather. Nor is it ordinary denim.
This series does not create a “finished form.”
It is based on the process of continual change itself.
The jacket is the style in which this treatment reveals itself most honestly.
It has a broad surface and many seams. As a result, neither the way the color remains nor the way it wears away is uniform.
The more it is worn, the more indistinct the boundary between black and indigo becomes, and the more its character develops.
