A leather down jacket made from soft, supple Entrefino lamb with a smooth, moist hand.
Made from lamb leather sourced from Spain, from lambs approximately 6–8 months old.
Its fine grain, smooth surface, and suppleness make it resistant to the stiffness often associated with leather, even when used for a voluminous garment such as a down jacket.
Compared with the nylon model in the same shape, approximately twice as much down is used.
Because the leather itself has such a strong presence, the jacket is given enough loft to hold its own, while also providing ample warmth for wear in the depths of winter.
The most distinctive feature of this jacket is its diamond quilting.
Unlike conventional quilting, the diamond pattern is not created by stitching across a single layer of fabric.
Each diamond is cut as a separate leather panel, and the quilting itself is formed by joining them together.
Rather than securing the leather with tight, forced stitching, the three-dimensional form is built by connecting small panels.
It is an exceptionally labor-intensive method, but it makes full use of the softness of Entrefino lamb while allowing the loft of the down to appear cleanly, one section at a time.
The sleeves combine smooth leather and suede.
By varying the surface finish of the same lamb leather, areas that reflect light and areas that absorb it emerge, creating depth within a single color.
The cuffs and hem use thick 100% wool ribbing.
