— Silk & French Linen / Forestière Jacket —
A reimagining, through cantáte’s interpretation, of the Forestière, one of the jackets emblematic of Parisian ARNYS (アルニス).
ARNYS was once described as “ARNYS of the Left Bank, Hermès of the Right Bank.”
The Forestière has the elegance of a tailored jacket, yet a freer character and a distinctive presence that feels closer to an overshirt.
The shell fabric uses silk for the warp and French linen for the weft.
By deliberately weaving it loosely rather than packing the weave too tightly, we finished the fabric without locking it into stiffness.
The smoothness and natural luster of silk meet the dry texture and lightness of linen, creating a soft drape as it moves.
Fine, supple Entre Fino lamb suede is used for the underside of the collar, buttonholes, pocket piping, and elbow patches.
Rather than displaying leather across the entire garment, we placed it so that only glimpses appear as the jacket moves—when the collar is turned up or a hand slips into a pocket, for example.
By adding the texture of suede only in select details to the light silk-and-linen fabric, we give the jacket a sense of depth.
The cuffs are designed to be folded back.
Worn as they are, the jacket appears in a quiet single color; folded back, the inner color emerges, creating a two-tone impression.
It can be worn properly, but it is also fine to wear it a little undone.
Rather than reproducing an old French Forestière exactly, this jacket uses the lightness of silk and linen to create something that can be naturally thrown on in everyday life today.
