EYEVAN was launched in 1972 with the concept of “eyewear to wear.”
Among its collections, EYEVAN 7285 was born in 2013 by dismantling and reassembling the components, based on the designs and manufacturing methods of “EYEVAN CRAFT,” which gave form to what the craftspeople of the time truly wanted to create using their advanced skills.
Everything from planning and design to manufacturing is carried out in Japan.
The brand name “7285” was chosen as a tribute to the products and philosophy spanning from 1972, when EYEVAN was founded, to 1985, when it expanded worldwide.
EYEVAN 7285 “1006.”
Its design source was the sunglasses worn in the 1990s by a member of a British rock band admired by the design team.
The horizontally elongated oval shape evokes the atmosphere of that era and is paired with wide metal temples.
Unlike delicate metal frames, this design gives the temples a strong presence not only from the front but also when viewed from the side.
The rims feature the “TV-RIM,” inspired by cathode-ray tube televisions.
To create a three-dimensional effect reminiscent of a CRT screen, the inside of the rim is sloped, and extremely fine lines are engraved along the slope at a pitch of 0.2 mm.
The detail is so small that it is barely noticeable from a distance, but when it catches the light, it creates subtle shading and gives depth to the frame, composed entirely of metal.
The sunglasses use original Japanese-made four-base-curve glass lenses.
Their color is uniquely formulated by blending materials such as metal particles, then each lens is molded individually from molten glass.
Rather than simply reproducing the oval shape characteristic of the 1990s, the design is reassembled using contemporary techniques and details such as the TV-RIM and wide temples.
1006 retains the atmosphere of a slightly eccentric era while being finished as eyewear for today.
