BUTTER KNIFE｜AVM
A butter knife carved from Ezo deer antler.
Each piece is carved by hand, taking into account the individual curves and thickness of the antler while preserving its natural form as much as possible.
Unlike artificial materials, the shape is not uniform from the outset.
Because the part to use and the direction from which to carve are determined for each antler, the finished piece retains the curves, colors, and subtle shading inherent to the material.
Not every antler can be used.
Even among approximately 20 antlers, only about one is suitable for production.
Furthermore, only around three rings or butter knives can be made from it.
Rather than forcing the material to fit the intended form, only the parts suited to what is being made are selected.
For this reason, no two pieces can ever be exactly alike.
It can of course be used as a butter knife, but it can also simply be left on display when not in use.
The smooth curves and natural variations in color of Ezo deer antler make it look like a small object as well as a utensil.
The natural form is not overly refined; the human hand intervenes only where necessary.
This is a butter knife that allows you to appreciate the form of the material itself while serving its practical purpose.
