— High Density Nylon / Flight Jacket —
A flight jacket inspired by the MA-1 and crafted from high-density nylon.
Woven at a high density, the fabric retains nylon’s lightness while gaining a firm, structured hand.
Because it holds its shape slightly away from the body, the generous silhouette maintains a defined outline without becoming overly loose, allowing the characteristic rounded shape of the MA-1 to emerge beautifully.
The jacket uses a double-faced construction, with the same fabric on both the exterior and interior.
Rather than adding a conventional lining, the same high-density nylon is layered twice.
The fabric retains the same appearance inside and out, while the doubled layers create a moderate thickness and an insulating air layer between them, enhancing warmth.
The silhouette allows enough room to wear a sweater underneath, while being carefully adjusted so it does not appear larger than necessary.
The shoulders are moderately dropped, while the sleeves are given ample volume.
By narrowing that volume with ribbed cuffs, a natural gather forms at the sleeves, preserving a dimensional outline when viewed from the side as well.
The front zipper is an EXCELLA by YKK.
The subtle sheen of polished metal against the high-density nylon slightly sharpens the impression of this military-inspired piece.
The fabric is also antistatic and water-resistant.
Especially during dry seasons, layering nylon over knitwear can easily generate static electricity; these properties help suppress it while providing some protection against changing weather conditions.
Retaining the MA-1’s rugged form while refining the material, proportions, and construction one element at a time.
Light enough to throw on, with ample room for substantial layers underneath.
A flight jacket designed for extended use as an everyday outer layer.
