10eyevan is an eyewear brand launched in 2017 by designer Hirotaka Nakagawa, based on the concept of “beautiful tools.”

Guided by the belief that “a beautiful tool is an assembly of beautiful parts,” each component is carefully considered, and one pair of glasses is constructed from “10 special parts” selected over more than three years.

The frames are made of celluloid.

This hard-wearing material is characterized by the deep sheen and rich, dimensional colors that emerge through polishing.
Rather than appearing uniform and flat, it subtly changes expression depending on how the light falls and the angle from which it is viewed. This distinctive texture is another of celluloid’s appeals.

Details include the β-titanium Torx screws emblematic of 10eyevan and end tips made of 925 sterling silver.

The shell pads, ordinarily made from natural shell, are also crafted in silver for this model.

Against the glossy, smooth celluloid, the silver is hard and slightly rugged.
Combining these two materials with contrasting textures creates a subtle tension that differs from a finish made solely in celluloid.

These are very small parts of a pair of glasses, but selecting the materials down to the smallest details and balancing the whole as a single tool is essential.

This pair conveys 10eyevan’s philosophy of “beautiful tools” through its combination of celluloid and silver.
