— High-Density Merino Gabardine —
A 2/1 gabardine fabric made entirely from carefully selected Merino wool for both the warp and weft.
Woven at high density on slow-speed looms, it combines sharpness and smoothness with a moderate degree of body.
Although it uses a conventional weave, it has depth in its texture and resilience to the touch.
Including the rich depth of color achieved through piece dyeing, this fabric was developed with an emphasis on how beautifully it performs in tailoring.
Wide-silhouette trousers made from high-density gabardine.
We adjusted the pick density repeatedly to create a fabric that would make this width work beautifully.
It would not work if it were simply heavy, nor if it were too soft.
This fabric is designed to find the precise balance between structure and drape.
The details include a custom extra-wide waistband curtain. The fly is hand-felled, with hand pick-stitching along the fly front. The belt loops are secured with turned-back lockstitching.
None of these details are intended to make a statement; they are all considered work intended to preserve the shape over time.
The most important element of these trousers is the center crease.
It is not added after the garment is finished. The fabric is decatized before cutting, and the crease is set at that stage before construction begins.
That is why it remains as a defined line even when you move.
It is entirely different from a crease created with an iron.
Wide, but never sloppy. Classic, but never heavy.
The fabric, pattern, and construction all move in the same direction.
