Quiet Season Hand-Knit Zip Jacket 〈NOIR〉

— Wool Cashmere Linen Knit —

A distinctive knit fabric made by twisting together yarn comprising 70% wool and 15% cashmere with linen yarn.

Its texture may seem unusual at first glance, but its exceptionally long wearing season is one of its defining qualities.

The warmth created by the air held within the fabric coexists with a dry feel derived from the linen, making it suitable for wear from September through the rainy season. It is a material that gently blurs the boundaries between seasons.

It looks soft. But this Cowichan is more surprisingly deliberate than it appears.  We did not want to leave it at “because it is hand-knitted.”

Where to apply tension and where to release it. We believed there was meaning in entrusting those decisions to human hands.

By shaping the three-dimensional form as the knitting progresses, the shoulders settle naturally and the garment follows the movement of the arms.

It has some weight, but it is difficult to feel when worn. That is because air is held within the knitted fabric.

The front zipper pull is made of deerskin.

We have carefully refined the feel of a place touched every time the garment is worn.

There are no striking patterns or easily explained symbols. Instead, the movements and habits of the wearer become the garment’s expression. It cannot become a mass-produced item.

That is precisely why we felt there was meaning in making this form now.
