— Merino Wool Melton —
A Melton fabric made from 100% merino wool.
By repeatedly brushing and fulling the fabric, then taking the time to finish it properly, we bring out the wool’s natural loft and insulating properties to the fullest.
It has a substantial weight and body, without feeling excessively heavy.
A winter staple with enveloping warmth and a reassuring sense of comfort.
It is unmistakably a peacoat. This garment does not shy away from that fact.
A double-breasted front and a generously proportioned body. First and foremost, it is made to work properly as a peacoat.
Beyond that, it is constructed to create a sense of incongruity when touched.
The most obvious example is the front facing. It is made remarkably large.
The reason is simple: we wanted the facing itself to absorb the weight and tension of the front panels.
Rather than restraining it with interlining, we support it through surface area. As a result, the stability when the buttons are fastened is entirely different.
The pocket bags of the hand-warmer pockets are made from corduroy.
It is less about protection from the cold than about the sensation. Your hands do not feel cold the moment you put them in.
This comfort is a detail that is hardly conveyed from the outside.
The leather panels use Entrefino sheepskin.
It is not a forceful leather, but a soft one that does not interfere with the texture of the wool.
That is why, even at the elbows, it does not create a stiff or overly formal impression.
It is all about what lies beneath the surface.
But because this peacoat is properly made on the inside, it appears perfectly straightforward on the outside.
It is a peacoat that explains itself best when you take it off.
