— Reconstructed 1950s-style Denim —
This denim fabric was reconstructed from a unique cantáte perspective, based on the LEVI’S 501XX from the 1950s.
While capturing the atmosphere of the era, we adjusted the tension and yarn count of the warp.
It retains the distinctive presence of denim while offering a dry, lightweight feel against the skin.
The design is based on the S506XXE, commonly known as the “wartime model.”
We deliberately adopted the “T-back construction,” which at the time was found only on larger sizes,
carefully reconstructing original details such as the central back seam and cinch back.
The slightly meandering stitching remaining on the collar and the box stitching that differs from left to right are also distinctive features of this jacket.
They may appear accidental at first glance, but in fact, every detail is intentional.
Rather than mass-produced uniformity, we have incorporated the “irregularities” and “discomfort” inherent in vintage garments as part of the design.
This version has been washed once.
The fabric’s stiffness has been gently softened, making it easy to settle into the body from the outset,
while preserving a balance that allows you to fully enjoy its evolving character over time.
Rather than simply tracing the atmosphere of vintage clothing,
the aim is to make it work as a garment for today.
This denim jacket quietly gives form to cantáte’s vision of what makes a piece distinctly “cantáte.”
