— Alashan Cashmere / Chesterfield Coat —
A Chesterfield coat made from 100% Alashan cashmere and crafted using reversible construction.
The cashmere is sourced from goats living in the Alashan region of western Inner Mongolia, China.
We use the exceptionally fine undercoat that grows to protect the goats from the region’s extreme temperature fluctuations and harsh winter cold.
Its fine fibers and high whiteness produce beautiful color, while the surface has cashmere’s characteristic natural luster.
To preserve its softness as much as possible, the fabric is carefully finished through repeated brushing and fulling.
It is not only smooth to the touch; it also has a plump, air-filled volume, making it remarkably lightweight despite its substantial weight.
The coat is made using reversible construction, treating two layers of fabric as one.
The fabric is opened, the seam allowances are enclosed inside, and the same amount of ease is worked into both sides, creating a soft outline with no visible sense of seam allowances from the outside.
On this coat, even the straight sections that are often handled by machine in conventional reversible construction are hand-felled.
By minimizing rigid seams, we avoid interfering with the softness and drape of the Alashan cashmere itself.
The pockets are also hand-felled one by one.
And so that this handwork appears natural, we deliberately leave the pockets without buttons.
Once you put it on, it is surprisingly lightweight for its apparent volume.
At the same time, the generous amount of fabric gives it a quiet presence when standing, while walking brings a broad, slow-forming drape all the way to the hem.
Rather than making it lighter by using less fabric, we use a generous amount of cashmere and make it light to wear through the construction.

The fabric is made from exceptionally fine Super 120’s wool.
