10eyevan is an eyewear brand founded in 2017 by designer Hirotaka Nakagawa under the concept of “beautiful tools.”
Based on the belief that “a beautiful tool is an assembly of beautiful parts,” each element is carefully considered in terms of materials and construction. Each pair of glasses is made from “10 special parts” selected over more than three years.
This is the FAT RIM (thick-rimmed) model from the collection made using cellulose acetate.
Cellulose acetate is a material with a firm texture, distinctive luster, and rich, dimensional color.
To make its appeal more apparent, the rims are thicker than those of the original no.2 III.
Rather than simply making them thicker, volume has been added to the extent that it does not disrupt the balance of the frame as a whole. This brings out the lustrous character of the cellulose acetate while leaving an intelligent, refined impression when worn.
At first glance, the shape is an orthodox Wellington.
Look closely at the outline, however, and you will notice a subtle polygonal nuance. Based on a classic shape, the lines and curves have been finely adjusted to achieve a balance that does not look like a direct reproduction of vintage eyewear.
The pads that symbolize 10eyevan are also rendered in silver for this model.
The hard, distinctive character of the silver contrasts with the lustrous, smooth texture of the cellulose acetate, creating a compelling contrast between the materials.
They have substance, but the glasses do not dominate at first glance.
The FAT RIM blends naturally with the face while giving the wearer’s contours just a little more definition.
※A dedicated glasses case and cleaner are included with the product.
