“Even dreams fit inside.”
Good evening.
I am Tomioka from cliché.
August began last week. It is the season when opportunities to go out increase, with trips and visits home during Obon among them.
When you think about your plans, your belongings naturally start to pile up as well. A change of clothes, an extra layer, small items. Before you know it, you may often find yourself wondering, “Which bag should I put everything in?”
As for me, I use one every day—to the point that there is hardly a day when I do not carry a tote bag, whether traveling, visiting home, or simply going to work.
Before I knew it, I had a tote bag in my left hand every day.
There is also a proper reason I use my left hand.
I photograph my outfits almost every day. Sometimes before heading to work, sometimes after finishing. I started doing it not so much for someone else to see, but out of curiosity: “It might be interesting to try taking one every day.”
When taking photos, I hold my smartphone in my right hand and a tote bag in my left.
Before I knew it, that had become part of my everyday life.
That is why I am rather particular about tote bags. What I especially like are large ones that let me toss anything in without hesitation.
But bigger is not necessarily better.
It is helpful when a bag holds a lot, but without compartments, it can be difficult to find what you need. And when the opening remains exposed, I worry a little about the contents being visible on trains and in town.
So I thought: why not find something that resolves all of those frustrations?
Even when I searched with those things in mind, they were surprisingly hard to find.
I want capacity. But I also want ease of use.
And above all, I wanted it to have a stylishness that makes me want to carry it every day.
The bag I am introducing here neatly solves this particular selfish request of mine.

The reason I like large tote bags is, after all, this sense of security.
Even if you add a change of clothes or an extra layer, you do not have to wonder, “Will it fit?” If your belongings increase while you are out, you can simply toss them in.
For a two- or three-day trip or a visit home, this bag is all you need.
You can head out with it without worrying about how much you are carrying.
Perhaps, in the end, that kind of ease is what I want from a large tote bag.

For the photos, I also put in a slightly bulky knit, imagining it being used year-round.
This is everything that fit inside! Besides clothing, it can even hold a camera and a laptop.
Even with all of this inside, there is still a little room to spare.
Even without packing everything neatly, you can simply toss your belongings in and they fit perfectly. The sense of security you want from a large tote bag is more than fully delivered.

The colors are the same three options as “Enough Space Bag (LARGE).”
If LARGE is a dependable size for travel or days when you have a lot to carry, SMALL is better suited to everyday life. It has sufficient capacity for the things you usually carry, such as a wallet, pouch, and drink.
If you use it every day, this size is actually just right.
It offers a different kind of ease from LARGE, with a sense of scale that makes you naturally reach for it when heading out.

For carrying every day, SMALL is just the right size.
A wallet, glasses case, camera, tablet, and book all fit comfortably, with a little room to spare.
Not too large, not too small.
For an everyday bag, this amount of room is just right.

Even when fully loaded, it is light enough to carry without effort. Even when carried for long periods, you are less aware of the bag’s own weight, and there is no sense of “being made to carry it.”
Precisely because it is something you use every day, I think this ease is very important.

This is the sense of scale when carried by a staff member who is 180 cm tall.
It is definitely substantial in size, but when you actually carry it, it somehow does not look exaggerated.
The bag does not dominate; it settles properly into the outfit as part of it.
I want capacity. But I do not want it to feel like I am carrying a large bag.
I think that balance has been very carefully considered.

The clothes take center stage, while the bag exists to bring out their appeal.
That sense of distance is what I like about this bag.
Not only when held in the hand, but also when viewed from behind, it naturally becomes part of the styling. Carrying the bag makes even the back view feel a little more polished.

Not a bag for special occasions, but a bag that extends naturally from everyday life.
It blends naturally into an outfit and is there when you need it. That is why I think I find myself reaching for it almost every day before I even realize it.

At 170 cm tall, this is the balance it creates.
Even in SMALL, it has a size with a strong presence.
It is not too large and settles naturally against the body.

Rather than feeling like I am carrying a bag, it feels like part of the outfit.
Like choosing clothes, I find myself reaching for it before I even realize it. That is the kind of bag it is to me.

Looking at the name again, “Enough Space Bag.”
Literally, “a bag with sufficient capacity.”
Matsushima usually carries almost nothing. Even when he carries a bag, it is one large bag. One or the other.

Matsushima’s personal bag

On the right is Matsushima’s personal bag; wrinkles have formed on the handles, and it has begun to develop a patina.
That is precisely what makes it interesting: this bag was made by someone who does not usually carry bags like this.
Rather than adding this and that for his own use, he considers what the person using it will put inside, how they will carry it, and what situations might cause them trouble. Perhaps it is precisely because he thinks about these things from a slight distance that the bag is more practical than its appearance suggests.

Deerskin leather label
The bear depicted on the leather label says, “It even holds dreams.”
It may sound a little exaggerated, but when you use it every day, you gradually start to feel that it may actually be true.
On workdays, on ordinary days off, and when you travel.
Throw in whatever you need, and it will somehow take care of the rest.
And if you use it almost every day, it may eventually become scuffed, fade, and perhaps even develop a hole.
But by the time you have used it that much, it will surely look better than when it was new.
Having sufficient capacity may not simply mean being able to fit a lot of things inside.
Everyday life, work, and travel.
Before long, it even begins to hold memories.
Once that happens, it becomes a bag you can no longer let go of.
