Rythme Bangle – SLIM 〈K20〉
A K20 bangle created with the whale rib as its motif.
Against the softly curving line, one side retains a sharply rising ridge.
Angular planes and rounded planes coexist within a single outline, creating a quiet, organic form.
The origin of this form was a whale bone that Hiromichi Furukawa found on a beach.
It is said that he remembered the shape and feel of the bone in his hand and shaped the piece by relying on the tactile memory left in his hand, rather than accurately recreating its form from a drawing.
Bones formed in nature are neither perfectly straight nor uniformly curved.
Without overcorrecting their irregularity, that quality is preserved in the jewelry as soft curves and sharp ridges.
K20 is used for the material.
With a higher gold purity than K18, it is characterized by a deeper yellow hue.
Rather than shining intensely, a gentle light appears across the soft curved surfaces, while a fine line of light runs along the ridges that retain their angles. Even within a single material, the form creates different expressions.
