Taiga Ring 〈DEER ANTLER〉
A ring carved from Ezo deer antler.
No decoration has been added to the exterior.
The color and pattern of the antler itself, along with the subtle depressions created during carving, are left intact, resulting in a quiet expression that reveals only the material.
By contrast, on the inside of the ring - invisible unless it is removed from the finger - an engraving of “TAIGA,” meaning a coniferous forest, has been added.
Rather than decorating it for others to see, a forest is engraved in a place known only to the person wearing it.
Precisely because the exterior is left unadorned, the meaning of the hidden engraving within becomes all the more powerful.
The material is natural Ezo deer antler.
The small depressions and variations in color visible on the surface are not made uniform, but preserved as expressions of the material revealed through carving.
When they catch the light, these subtle irregularities create soft shading.
Not every antler can be used.
Even among approximately 20 antlers, only about one is suitable for making rings.
Furthermore, only around three rings can be made from that single antler.
Rather than forcing the material into a predetermined shape, we select and use only the sections suited to a ring, taking into account their thickness, curves, and distribution of color.
Add nothing to the exterior, and leave the forest only within.
To give meaning to what cannot be seen, rather than what can.
That is the Taiga Ring, made solely from Ezo deer antler and this philosophy.
