Rios of Mercedes, a custom bootmaker founded in 1853.
Based in Mercedes, Texas, the company continues to produce the highest-quality boots by preserving traditional manufacturing methods to this day.
Rios boots do not contain the cork commonly used in boots; instead, fabric is built into them. This gives them excellent flexibility, and combined with the soft soles, makes them exceptionally comfortable to walk in. Another distinctive feature is the upward curve of the toe. The toes are slightly raised when new, but the curve becomes more pronounced with wear, developing into the distinctive “spring toe.” These boots offer sneaker-like comfort and versatility, making them a pair you will find yourself reaching for again and again.
Cassidy Red
A model inspired by Butch Cassidy, the protagonist of the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Although an outlaw, he was a character endowed with both humor and intelligence; that character is expressed through a distinctive color combining red with hints of pink. Passionate and powerful yet imbued with a certain softness, the color is truly Butch himself.
The upper is made from thick calf leather finished with combination tanning, balancing suppleness and substance. It features the sharpest pointed toe in the Rios lineup, while precise stitching applied by skilled craftsmen gives the entire boot a refined finish. The heel, neither too high nor too slim, pairs beautifully with denim and slacks. It is designed to deliver both lightness and presence with every step.
With wear, the red takes on a more subdued character, while the shadows created by the pull-up leather reveal a wide range of tones, from pink to burgundy. Its appearance changes depending on the light, and the process of eventually becoming “your own Cassidy Red” is one of its greatest attractions.
Carrying the name of an outlaw, this is far more than simply a pair of red boots. With intelligence and passion at its core, it is a pair that accompanies you through life and records your story along the way.
