Rough Flannel Shirt 〔BLUE BASE〕

“Ama-yori,” made by loosely twisting the yarn, and “ama-ori,” woven without packing the warp and weft too tightly.

This is a brushed cotton flannel shirt finished to retain as much air as possible, from the making of the yarn through the weaving process.

When tightly twisted yarn is woven at high density, the fabric becomes firm and its contours more defined.
This fabric takes the opposite approach. By loosening the yarn twist and the weave, it leaves room for the cotton to expand and become full.

The reverse side is then brushed, allowing air to settle within that fullness.
It feels exceptionally soft and light from the moment you put it on. At the same time, the layer of air provides warmth, and the fabric is gentle against the skin even when worn directly over a T-shirt.

The check pattern is classic, but because the yarn itself has volume, its lines do not appear overly crisp.
Slightly blurred-looking lines overlap with the shading created by the brushing, giving the shirt a dimensional character that feels subtly broken-in despite being new.

For the chest pocket, the fabric is cut diagonally against the check pattern.
Rather than adding decoration, changing the direction of the pattern creates a subtle accent.

It has the warmth characteristic of a flannel shirt, without becoming heavy or stiff.
