PRAY RING

An armor ring carved from Ezo deer antler.

The design draws inspiration from ancient armor.
The structure of protective gear, made by combining hard materials to shield the body, has been reinterpreted as a small ring that follows the finger.

Against the organic curves of natural antler, the form is architectural.
The material shaped by nature and the armor-like contours made by human hands are layered together in a single design.

The surface pattern is burned in by hand, one piece at a time, using a soldering iron.

The pattern is neither printed uniformly in advance nor engraved.
Because heat is applied directly to the natural antler, the color and depth of the burn, as well as the way the lines bleed, vary according to the density and grain of each area.

Even when the same movements are repeated, no two patterns are ever exactly alike.
Although drawn by hand, the final expression is entrusted to the material itself.

Not every antler is suitable for use, either.

Even after examining approximately 20 antlers, only about one is suitable for making rings.
Furthermore, only around three rings can be made from that single antler.

Rather than forcing the material to conform to the desired shape, we select and use only the sections suited to an armor ring, considering their thickness, curves, and texture.

The hard, architectural form of armor is created from antler that originally grew from a living creature.
It is then exposed to fire, leaving the accidental burns and variations exactly as they emerge.

This is PRAY RING, shaped by both nature and the human hand.
