TAIGA RING
A ring carved from Ezo deer antler.
No decoration has been added to the exterior.
The antler’s original colors and patterns, along with the subtle indentations created during carving, are left intact, resulting in a quiet expression that allows the material itself to speak.
By contrast, the inside of the ring—hidden unless it is removed from the finger—is engraved with “TAIGA,” meaning a coniferous forest.
Rather than decorating it for others to see, a forest is carved into a place known only to the wearer.
Because the exterior is left unadorned, the meaning of the hidden engraving becomes all the more pronounced.
The material is natural Ezo deer antler.
The small indentations and variations in color visible on the surface are not smoothed away for uniformity; they are preserved as expressions of the material revealed through carving.
When they catch the light, these subtle irregularities create soft shading.
Not every antler is suitable for use.
Even among approximately 20 antlers, only about one is suitable for making rings.
Furthermore, only around three rings can be produced from that single antler.
Rather than forcing the material to conform to a predetermined shape, we select and use only the sections suited to a ring, taking into account their thickness, curves, and distribution of color.
Nothing is added to the exterior; the forest is left only on the inside.
Meaning is given to what cannot be seen, rather than what can.
TAIGA RING is made solely from the material of Ezo deer antler and this philosophy.
