Can you honestly call something “good” when it truly is?
Good evening. This is Matsushima from cantáte.
Do you remember the story about accidentally putting the T-shirt in the dryer?
I printed them on that exceptional T-shirt.
Just that alone makes you want it a little, doesn’t it?

The words I admired in high school and the words that supported me after I became an adult.
This T-shirt features both of them.
The front print features the words “The World Is Yours.” from the film “Scarface.” I watched it many times in high school, and I still vividly remember Al Pacino at his coolest and Michelle Pfeiffer, who was beautiful enough to seem almost translucent.
Dangerous, vulgar, and steeped in desire, yet somehow imbued with a sense of purity. In the end, I feel that film is summed up in this one line.
“The World Is Yours.”

This time, I printed the words in a font that evokes a certain dreamland.
However, the aim was not simply to create a pop aesthetic.

The right one is new; the left one has been worn for three months.
The print has been treated with a cracking finish. As you wear it, it gradually cracks, and its appearance changes over time. The new condition is not the finished form; as the wearer’s time is added, it gradually moves toward completion. I believe that change itself is part of this T-shirt’s appeal.

New

Worn for three months.
And on the back, I included words by Rosanjin Kitaoji that I have cherished for a long time.
“I want all human beings to appreciate beauty, understand what is good as good, understand that walking the true path is what is genuine, and devote my strength to ensuring that they do not fall, even temporarily, into the path of wrongful desire.”

It was drawn by the great illustrator Kahoko Sodeyama.
Someone arbitrarily added “my power” at the end lol
I have loved these words for a long time.
It is probably very close to the core of who I am.
I am someone who makes things.
That is precisely why I do not want you to buy something strange or end up disappointed.
Of course, clothing is a luxury item, so there is no one absolute right answer. People have different likes and dislikes, and different values.
Even so, at the very least, I do not want to recommend something to anyone that I cannot consider honest.
I want to communicate as honestly as possible about the fabric, construction, and price, and if I am going to make something, I want to put products into the world that I myself can stand behind.
More than anything, I want you to choose cantáte so you do not make a mistake.
That is the feeling with which I make clothes every season.
That is why these words of Rosanjin may be less a simple favorite quote than a guiding principle for me in making things.
Can you call something good when it is genuinely good?
Can you truly walk the right path?
Although it may seem like I am talking about clothing, perhaps I am actually talking about how to live.

We deliberately offer it in size 50 only.
It is not about whether it is big or small; when considering how the print looks, its atmosphere, and the slightly relaxed feel, this size felt the most natural.
Available in two colors: GRAY and WHITE.

This is a new item with particularly pronounced cracking.
There are individual differences, but as you wear it, the print is pulled along with your body’s movements, gradually developing vintage-like cracking.
I actually think that is where the real process begins.
A slightly distressed print looks cooler than a perfectly clean one.
The films I loved in the past and the words I have always cherished gradually take on slightly different meanings as I grow older.
But perhaps the things that remain even after change are the things you truly love.
“The World Is Yours.”, which I admired in high school, and the words of Rosanjin that supported me after I became an adult.
At first glance, they seem completely different, but strangely, within me they occupy the same place.
Living according to desire, and living honestly.
Perhaps, going back and forth between the two, I am ultimately just searching for my own “true path.”
It will go on sale in stores from noon on June 6.
Sales in the online store are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on June 7.
