Frisson Cashmere Scarf|A scarf that complements both Western and traditional Japanese clothing
Good evening. This is Matsushima from cantáte.
I remember the moment last winter when I first released the Frisson Cashmere Scarf to the world.
“At last, I’ve made a scarf that I genuinely want for myself.”
Relief and quiet excitement mingled, warming the depths of my chest.
We have prepared such an ultimate scarf again this year!

But to be honest, at that time,
There was still a little distance between me and the product that had just been completed.
I was convinced that “something extraordinary had been created,” but
How it would fit into my lifeI still hadn’t grasped it.
I didn’t yet know my habits of using it, nor could I tell how its expression would change in the winter air.
Looking back now, I think that “interval” was natural.
I wouldn’t say all year round, but
My hand reached for it whenever the weather turned cold, and before I knew it, it had become its “designated place.”
Through that accumulation, one thing became clear.
Frisson is a scarf whose “true nature only becomes visible when you use it.”

What you learn through continued use
—— A change in the “air” that comes before temperature
—— From a thing to a “companion in life”
“Light,” “oversized,” “soft,” and “complex processing”
I had been explaining it mainly through facts such as these.
But what I understood this year was,
The essence of Frisson is that it is not temperature or material, but “air” itself.
The moment you wrap it around yourself,
The air around your neck slowly changes.
The tension in shoulders stiffened by the cold loosens.
Your breathing deepens.
Your posture naturally straightens.
Beyond “warmth,”
“A scarf that helps put your body in order” It has this effect.
This is the true nature of Frisson that I could not see last year.
The Frisson finishing process

—— A process that cultivates not gentleness, but “integrity”
The Frisson finishing process is,
8–10 rounds of raising the nap and 5–6 washes A process of repeating this.
Last year, I
Last year, I only wrote, “It is a time-consuming process.”
But what I realized again when I touched it this year was,
This is not “a process for finishing it gently,” but
It is “a process for finishing it with integrity.”
・It is not made unnecessarily fluffy
・It has a firm density
・It becomes soft only when it rests against the skin
This seemingly contradictory texture is the core of Frisson.
In other words, Frisson is,
Not “indulgent softness,” but “softness you can trust” It has that quality.
To avoid cutting corners, we take the time.
That is the backbone of this scarf.
The meaning of being oversized
—— A size that becomes “room” in winter life**
The Frisson Scarf is an oversized 183cm × 75cm.
Last year, I described it as a “luxurious size,” but
This year, I began to see a deeper meaning.
As for what it means to be oversized,
It is “creating room in winter life” itself.
・Draped over your shoulders, it becomes outerwear
・Placed on your lap, it becomes a blanket
・When draped over yourself before bed, it settles the air
・When placed on a chair while out, it changes the temperature of the seat
And above all,
It returns a body contracted by the cold to its “human shape.”
“Ah, I’m really breathing properly right now.”
There are many moments that make me realize this.
Kimono and Frisson

—— Praise for a “large piece” that doesn’t disrupt one’s gestures
What left the strongest impression on me this year was
The number of unusually enthusiastic reactions from friends who wear kimono.
“I want to drape this over my shoulders.”
“I finally found one.”
“There really isn’t anything this size and light.”
When I hear about it, apparently there is a culture in the kimono world of large stoles worn over the shoulders in winter.
But large pieces on the market…
・Heavy
・Poor quality
・Not wide enough
・Disrupts one’s gestures
In other words,
Apparently, there truly is no “large, high-quality piece” that doesn’t disrupt the lines of a kimono.
Frisson is,
It is light, large, dense, and stays on the shoulders.
It doesn’t get in the way of movement.
It makes their gestures look beautiful.
Apparently, this combination is so unusual that it has spread by word of mouth among friends who wear kimono.
And honestly, I was happy when I heard that.
I don’t wear kimono on a daily basis.butis that people from another cultural sphere choose it because it “doesn’t disrupt their own gestures,”
The reason
as a maker, it gives me a warm feeling deep in my chest.
and scarves that complement both Western and Japanese clothing are truly rare;
It was not a coincidence,
the inevitability created by a “structure made to follow the movement of air.”
the direction the fabric falls on its own,
the position of its center of gravity when placed on the shoulders,
The way the air escapes when you move your hands—
All of it ultimately came to blend naturally into the gestures of a different culture as well.
When you make things, moments like this are the most rewarding.

—— From a thing to a “companion in life”
Last year was
“The story of a completed product.”
This year was
“The true story we learned by spending time together”
I wanted to write about
After a year, Frisson was no longer a thing,
A “companion” that helps set the rhythm of your life it became.
A scarf that brings you closer the more you use it.
As an aside: The theory that FORZA STYLE’s Yanaka will put it on and go home again this year
Last year, the moment Ryutaro Yanaka put on Frisson
Saying “Sleepy…” he left the store just like that.
I’m definitely doing it again this year.
I’ll just prepare the invoice already.
If anything, I’ll prepare one for your wife too. Because I don’t want you to argue.
—— A scarf I want to give to last year’s me and to you today

Frisson Cashmere Scarf is,
I prefer the “now” after continuing to use it to the moment it was completed.
If my past self had been shivering from the cold in front of the station,
I want to gently drape it over your shoulders.
“It’s okay to live at about this temperature.”
the better it becomes—a scarf you can say that about.
The deeper winter gets,
We hope you will welcome it into your everyday life.
※Frisson Cashmere Scarf will go on sale in stores / the online store from 12:00 on 11/22 (Sat).
