Another key to supporting the softness of the leather is the ribbed construction (military ribbing).
This material, knitted firmly from thick yarn and endowed with stretch and recovery, functions almost like muscle.
The moment you put it on, it fits snugly against you, and each time you slip your arm into the sleeve, you feel as though “the garment is responding to my movements.”
Ribbing has a vertical knitting direction called the “rib grain,” so it can basically only be cut straight.
Therefore, when the wrist fits snugly, it is usually the case that the entire arm fits the same way.
