The other day, I had a chance to have dinner with designer Asakawa-san.
I asked a question that I had been thinking about for a while.
What I always end up saying at exhibitions is,
Questions like "Where do these ideas come from?"
Technological details and designs that we could never imagine,
In addition, there are many designs that look like works of art, like this knit.
When I asked him this, he answered that the basis of design is not just clothes.
They answered that they can gain a lot from works of art such as paintings and photographs.
The best example of this is the "minus part number" that we had previously developed.
It was a model number that expressed the beauty that I felt in the "unfinished" part of the design and the basting, or toile, stage.
All colors are unified off-white and finished in a single layer, making it look simple at first glance.
However, the fine and powerful details within the simplicity shine.
I wonder what's going on inside Mr. Asakawa's brain.
On the other hand, this is a creation that leaves me scratching my head.
This time's knits are not divided into such themes,
The colors of the (paint?) collide with each other, and the colors mix to form a cohesive piece.

Fair Isle patterned knits and cardigans that look like geometry.

The other color was yellow-based, but no matter how much I like flashy colors,
I was drawn to the dark navy with purple in it.
When I think of the Fair Isle pattern, I associate it with outdoor brands such as LLB and Patagonia.
I had a feeling that I had seen this color somewhere before, so I didn't really understand it until I looked it up, but this knit is a familiar item that doesn't make you feel that way at all.
Another reason I ordered it was because it has a retro feel, similar to what your grandpa or grandma would wear.

Come to think of it, when I was a student, I had a lot of used knitwear with patterns like this.
They were all cheap 100% wool and didn't make much of a fuss, let alone tingle.

Shearling has a strong earthy smell, but when made by Stein, it has a minimalist atmosphere.
I have a second-hand pair of shearlings, but I don't like how old they feel, so I hardly ever wear them.
